Dentsu Lab

PROJECT

With a vision to democratise education, The Everything Book is a cloud-based AI packet broadcaster, created with Vedantu to connect disconnected kids with their dreams.

Business Challenge

Only 5% of rural India has access to the internet. This, among other complex factors, means that children are forced to work rather than attend school. Vedantu, India’s leading e-learning platform, wants to ensure education is accessible to everyone. The solution - easy to install, as well as scalable to cover a significant part of the country, bringing uninterrupted education and connectivity.

HUMAN PERSPECTIVE

Children in rural India are often unable to make their dreams a reality because of a lack of resources. Vedantu makes quality learning accessible to everyone, focusing its efforts on kids in the most disconnected parts of the country.

LAB PROCESS

The Everything Book was developed by a team of educators, technologists and artists through rigorous research, curation and design. From the detailing of the pages to the overall experience, it was designed to be inclusive, engaging and easy to absorb.

LAB PROCESS

The Everything Book houses a cloud-based AI packet broadcaster and assembler service that combines weak 2G mobile networks around it into one 4G “Hyperspot”. To ensure it worked in the most isolated areas, extensive testing was conducted to ensure connectivity met the standards required for streaming.

LAB PROCESS

The device is handheld and rechargeable, so it can be transported anywhere easily. Books were distributed in villages where infrastructure, teachers and textbooks were not available, with free access to the Vedantu platform providing a limitless learning environment.

OUTCOMES

Vedantu was able to connect with an audience that was being missed by similar efforts. It covered more than 60 rural villages, ensured that over 50,000 hours of Vedantu content was streamed and resulted in 37% increased class attendance.
