Dentsu Lab, dentsu’s global creative R&D network, has launched The Innovation Paradox, a new, global report designed to help business leaders find the sweet spot between the insatiable demands for exponential growth today, and the need for investment in innovative transformation strategies which strike a path to long-term sustainable growth.

Drawing on insights from over 950 CMOs across 14 markets, this pragmatic guide outlines four key paradoxes which every business leader must address if they are to make the jump from endlessly chasing a quick-fix, to re-orienting an organization as in innovation growth engine.  Key findings include: 

  • 72% of CMOs believe there is insufficient innovation in marketing, yet allocate just 10% of their budgets to it. 

  • 76% feel the pressure to achieve exponential growth but struggle to focus resources effectively. 

  • 60% report a lack of the right agency partnerships to drive meaningful innovation. 

These statistics highlight a critical tension at the heart of today’s business strategies: while innovation is acknowledged as vital, the path to achieving it often remains unclear.
