What was the atmosphere like on the day that Monet depicted in his "Water Lilies" ? What if the atmosphere depicted in the painting was linked to the atmosphere of the place where we are now?

℃uration is a project that creates new ways of encountering art through "air." Using AI technology, we have succeeded in interpreting landscape paintings left behind by artists in the past and estimating the temperature and humidity of the "air" flowing through those landscapes.

PROCESS

We created a frame-type display that shows landscape paintings with temperature and humidity information similar to the location of the viewer. By linking the real world and the world of the painting through air, we created a new viewing experience, as if air was blowing through the world of the painting.

RESULTS

℃uration was unveiled at Art Fair Tokyo, one of the leading art fairs in Japan. Through "air," it connects the era in which the artist lived with the present, creating a new way of encountering art. This connection between real world and the scenes in the paintings lets viewers immerse into the art.
