Dentsu Lab

ABOUT

“To educate travelers on how KLM is working on making travel more sustainable, we invite them to view things from a new perspective.”

CHALLENGE

Air travel is currently not sustainable yet KLM has a roadmap that is exploring Alternative fuel, recycling, innovative airplanes, reforestation, and much more. How do we help KLM to tell the story about their plans in an engaging way?

PROCESS

This project used a human-friendly interface to discuss sustainability. The engaging experience allows users to intuitively scroll through three different lenses on aviation: the past, present and future.

PROCESS

The final experience is the result of: Digitally building unity scenes to be showcased in VR headsets. UI design for basic steps and the user’s interactions. The physical design and construction of the final telescope, including a scroll wheel, height considerations and more.

OUTCOME

The unique telescopes – called Progresscopes – used VR to transport users into the past, present and future of KLM’s sustainability efforts, rendered in multiple interactive locations. Explore the world of air travel as it was in the past, as it is today, and as it will be in the future. This simple and engaging experience can be used by anyone, from airport lounges to roadshows.
